Samson’s Haircut Scissors Activity

The Bible story of Samson might be one of those most bizarre stories I have ever read. If you haven’t read it before, it’s much more than a man with superhuman strength and long hair. I understand why the violent details were left out when I was taught this story as a child. Lots of killing, eating honey out of an animal carcass, lust, revenge and sin…I too will be leaving out details when teaching this story to my two year old.
Samson’s sin led him to reveal his secret and lose the strength God had given him. His hair was cut and his strength was gone.
In the end Samson repented of his sin and once again found superhuman strength in the Lord. That is something I CAN teach my toddler.
God is our true strength.
Cutting Practice Activity
This Samson haircut activity is a great way to teach toddlers how to hold and use scissors. It tests and develops fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
What You’ll Need
- Construction paper
- Cut the construction paper into long rectangles.
- Using the marker, draw a face at the bottom of each rectangle.
- Cut the top 3/4 of each rectangle lengthwise, creating long, thin strips.
- Have your child practice using scissors by cutting the “hair” strips.
